News - 12/3/2009

Some news to relay. Thanks for being patient with us as we gather our collective thoughts in preparation for 2010.

New Album
- We are currently in the writing process and we are becoming extremely excited about this new record. We have about 9 songs ready to go, some of which will be played next year, maybe even starting in January. We'll probably be recording sometime early to mid next year. Song titles and album name will be decided upon later, so we'll announce that once it's set.

- We are currently in talks with doing a split cassette tape with our friends in The Dolemite Project. This would be an extremely limited tape, probably 100 copies.

- We'll also have a new 7" out next year, after our record, which will also contain new songs. Will it be a split? We're not quite sure at this point.

Touring/Shows
- As you know, we are playing SXSW (South By Southwest) We are currently unsure of when/where we'll be playing. But given this opportunity to play, this means we'll be doing about a week tour around it. We'll have a routing soon, so please get in contact if you can help out.

- We currently have 2 shows just about ready to go in January
January 15th - The Blvd Cafe in Boyle Heights w/Landmine Marathon and The Network + more.
January 16th - TBA - Riverside w/Landmine Marathon

Merch
- We're working on new merch for the new year. I realize a lot of our stuff is old and crappy, but hey, we have to get rid of it. So please, if you can, spend a little bit of cash to clear us out of this bullshit and we'll get some new stuff up there as soon as possible.

That about brings us up to speed. There's a lot going on but without a new record, we're kind of at a hault. We'll have more details on everything in the coming months and we'll be sure to let you know asap.

Thanks again,
The Funeral Pyre

Webshop / Mailorders

Hey everyone,
So, some of you have been e-mailing us about where your order is. That's all fine and dandy, and we're happy to help you. But there are sometimes a few issues.

- I understand that instant gratification is a big thing for people, but please bare with us, we run this mailorder on our own and try to get everything out as quickly as possible. Our merch is not next to us at all times of the day and we all don't have time to mail orders out every single day. So please understand that it may take a couple of weeks! If we're on tour, it'll take even longer. We apologize, but that's just how it is.

- Sometimes, you'll order a shirt, that we may be out of stock on, but because it's hard to keep up to date with all stock inventory (becuase we play so many shows and the stock levels are always bouncing around) we could be out of your size even though you ordered it. We try our absolute hardest to stay on top of this, but hey, it happens. So, with that being said, CHECK YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS THAT YOU USED TO PAY VIA PAYPAL WITH. We'll always e-mail you back about your order is there is a problem. A LOT OF YOU DON'T WRITE BACK BECAUSE YOU DON'T CHECK YOUR JUNK FOLDER.
So check that out, make sure you're in contact with us, rather than posting comments like "where's my order assholes. it's been 3 weeks." Cause in all honesty, we'll tell you to fuck off! We don't like being treated like shitheads, so don't do it!

- Remember, this is DIY shit we're talking about. We're not professionals, we're not a full time band that makes money. We're a band, that practices in a garage. Just like you. So be respectful and supportive and we'll be the same way. Believe me, we can be fucking ASSHOLES if you want us to!

Thanks again for helping us out and supporting. Just understand where we're coming from!

The powers that be.

After a year hiatus, we are welcoming back Justin Garcia to the line up. During that time, Justin had issues beyond our control that he had to tend to. Now, that the issues have been resolved, he could no longer resist the urge to join the army of Satan. So welcome him back, into your cold black hearts. He'll be apart of our new record which we are going to be finishing up.

In other news, we'll be playing some shows coming up. Some in LA and some in La Habra. So keep up to date on the shows. They'll most definitely be an exciting time.

Until then.

2009, ending already.

So we've been home for a week, I'm just now getting around to doing this blog to wrap everything up. This was by far one of the best tours we've done. Everything ran smoothly (for the most part) and we didn't kill each other. Well, maybe one time 2 of us tried to kill each other but hey, it happens. Anyway, we finally got back over to the east coast, played some awesome shows and had a great time. There are a lot of you to thank, so I'm going to do this as quickly as possible! If I forgot your name, I'm really sorry. So here's the wrap up.

Thanks:landmine marathon, my son my executioner, andy in alabama, withered, clinging to the trees of a forest fire, broadslab, andrew va house shows, sourvein, corporeal, scott lee, nick at money shot, fred for showing us "the teachings of john", luis and liz/tones of death, borealis and alex, stephen @ init records, justin and too much distortion promotion, joe book of black earth, samothrace, the helm and immiserate, arkham (sp?), josh & idekay, early graves, tc at the cretin hop, elitist, and anyone who came out to see us. We hope we didn't disappoint.

Now that we've got that out of our system, we have some other news.
We're going to be finishing up the writing for our new record. We try and stay as busy as possible. We'll probably have a preproduction track up sometime later this year. So keep checking back for that. We're also going to put up a new shirt on the webshop. We're running super low on a lot of the shirts, so get what you can as most of those will never be reprinted again.

That about does it. When we have more info on the new record, we'll post it.

Until then,

summer summer summer

it's been a month since the last post, so i figured i'd liven this place up and do something. this post may not be informative or worthwhile, but i just don't want to feel complacent. you get me? ok then. so basically this blog is for me to just make me feel like i have self worth, which i don't. anywho, onto stuff and more stuff.

- we are getting the summer tour booked, even though some areas are taking a tad longer than others, i feel like it's coming together fairly well and right on schedule. but of course, as the weeks go by, i'll start freaking out. so, YOU see any dates that are TBA and YOU feel like you can help, please feel free to e-mail ME (john) at Myfinalautumn(at)aol(dot)com

i like doing that.

- split 7" with landmine marathon. all the parts are done, we worked out a price with the printers and now on monday, i think we're going to give it to the plant to print. we're super excited about it just because we like putting stuff out for no reason other than to just add to our cataloge. well, that and landmine rules. so, if you haven't ordered it, please do so - forestmoonproducts.bigcartel.com

- oh, we also have a twitter now. just because we don't have enough outlets for me to talk about basketball and black metal. twitter.com/thefuneralpyre

i don't know what else to say, there's no important information at all.

Hardcore

Hey everyone. We've finished the tracking for our split with Landmine Marathon. It's sounds pretty rad. Super harsh recording, dirty, fucking aye. It was recorded with our friend Roger. It's low budget, but fuck it, it's awesome. So here are the tracks that we did.

1. Torched Sky (New song!)
2. Attempt (ACME cover)

There are limited quantities of this bad boy, so be sure you check out the forest moon page and pick it up. It's available for preorder, so do it up.

Split news/Tour news

Been laying low for a few months, not really doing anything. I guess it's a much needed break from the "metal" world. But that's what we need as we get ready for the long summer tour which will inevitably leave us all broke and disheartened again, by the so called "metal community." So why stop there? Maybe we'll write another full length record for all of you kids to complain about, maybe tell us how our "older" stuff was superior? Yes, we'll be writing another record, regardless of what the internet "elitists" think, or what you kids think. It'll be full of early Swedish black metal worship because, let's face it, there's nothing left we can offer that is original. On to other news, we still need help booking our upcoming tour. So if you see a date that you could help with, please e-mail me, john, at this e-mail MYFINALAUTUMN@AOL.COM and we'll hopefully get it all sorted.

We also have some news about the upcoming split with our friends in Landmine Marathon. The artwork which is just about completed is being done by Matt Martinez of Landmine Marathon. The artwork is awesome, so we're all stoked on it. Once we have our song fully mastered and done, we'll be sending it to print. Which could be as early as next week. Preorders will be launched on the Forest Moon page as well as our webshop very soon, probably by the end of the week. So stay tuned as this is going to sell quickly. Thanks again for all the support, to those who actually support.

In Time,

News / Summer Plans / Records

Hey,
It's been a while since I've posted anything. So here you go. We'll get caught up a little bit and keep it relatively short.

- We are doing the split with Landmine Marathon, our 2 songs are just about finished, we'll be recording with our friend Roger (Cerberus) so be on the look out. We'll have one brand new song and we'll be doing a cover of the song "Attempt" by ACME.

- We will be doing some summer touring, I can't say how much, for how long, and with who yet, but once we know, we'll tell you!

- After the split is recorded and ready to go, we'll start writing for our next record. This will be our 4th full length record. Not sure what to expect yet, but we'll do updates frequently throughout the writing and recording process. It will probably be out in early 2010.

- We're going to get some new merch, we're just trying to sell off the last of the other stuff, so please help out, spend a few bucks, get a cool shirt.

update / update / update

So it's been about a month since I last posted something, so I figured I'd get you all caught up to speed on the happenings within The Funeral Pyre. So, let's get started.

We've finished up the "December" ep and should be receiving the product next week, then we will ship all of the preorders we've gotten. We'll also have some new t-shirt designs for sale soon. I know we have a bunch right now, but you should definitely just buy those cheap ones that we're trying to clear out, help us out and in return we'll get some awesome shirts up on that webshop.

thefuneralpyre.bigcartel.com

We have some shows coming up, be sure to check out the Myspace page, including our record release show with Crom, The Dolemite Project, Ghostlimb, Landmine Marathon and Bomb Raid. It's going to be an amazing show.

Well, that about does it for now. Let me know what kind of records you've been listening to. Post them in the comments section, i want to know.

NAMM convention and some venting

So, I recently spent the last couple of days down at the NAMM convention down in Anaheim, CA. It was the first one I'd ever been to so naturally I was pretty excited to get in there and see what's going on. I mean, I'm not an instrument buff, but I can definitely appreciate the skill of a player. With that being said, let's talk about why NAMM sucks. Don't get me wrong, I think it's an amazing place for people who are involved in selling guitars, owning a shop, technology advances for instruments and what not. But all you assholes who show up and think that you're going to "make it big" by getting a pass somehow and passing out demos or trying to get endorsements when you haven't even put in the time with your band. This just pisses me the fuck off. I was there with some friends who got me in and asked if I would like to go and just check out all of the latest guitars, drums, and whatever else, but not once did I go in there thinking that soliciting my band, when these companies are trying to do business to make a living, would be a priority for myself or my band. Also, wearing leather pants, with bandanna's in your back pocket, hair down blowing in the wind, playing the most dipshit ass solo ever heard, just stop this garbage now. 80's metal is not back, it's not cool. Let's just stop this right now. You're embarrassing to yourself and to metal in general. I'm not saying everyone has to be "black metal" cause hey, I really do enjoy Saxon, Skid Row and other bands of the genre, just, now, 25-30 years later, you can stop dressing like a fucking moron. ok i'm done.

Cut the shit.

There are times when I really just want to hang myself and a lot of people around me. Now, feels like one of those times. Reason why? Now, you people don't take offense to this, but there are TOO MANY FUCKING BANDS. Ok, you might think, "Well funeral pyre, you guys are a band that's polluting the earth just like any other fucking band out there right now." And, you're kind of right. Like or dislike us, we have still tried to produce quality music for people since '00. Before that, we were in bands as young teenagers playing the most god awful music you will ever imagine. But you know what, we didn't try to take over the world without some of our chops ready to go. My point being, it's not that i don't support bands as a whole, it's that every band wants to be huge right off the bat! That's not the way shit works. I'm sorry everyone. A blunt look at reality for you. Creating a myspace, not having songs, yet trying to take professional promo pictures before you've laid any type of foundation in music what so ever! I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic. So, for today's lesson, just remember this - write songs first. Music is more important than what you look like or what you're mission statement is. Please, just take this as advice and continue to write songs until you're ready to actually play shows. Then, play some shows, DON'T TRY AND TOUR THE COUNTRY RIGHT OFF THE BAT! So, let's just calm down everyone and remember, music is about songs. Speaking of which, here are some records which has some great songs!

Grand Magus - Iron Will
Deerhunter - Microcastle
Trap Them - Seizures In Barren Praise
Samothrace - Life's Trade

There, i'm done. have a good weekend everyone.
